Sonae Capital Industrials acquires majority stake in BeyondComposite

BeyondComposite is an innovative Portuguese company, specialized in the development and manufacturing of advanced composite materials, exporting over 90% of its production.

This investment will boost BeyondComposite’s growth strategy and enhance its operations both in Portugal and internationally.

Founded by researchers from University of Minho, BeyondComposite is already a benchmark in high-performance engineering and materials. The company develops cutting-edge solutions for mobility applications, such as components for buses and trains, as well as for defence, providing protection materials for people and assets - helping to save lives. Through partnerships with national and international companies and associations, BeyondComposite has been developing innovative solutions that drive environmental sustainability and enhance performance efficiency. The company’s approach integrates sustainable materials, such as wood and its derivatives, with high-performance polymers.

BeyondComposite currently has a team of circa twenty employees, including an R&D team of highly qualified professionals. Last year, 90% of the company sales came from international markets.

Its integration in the portfolio of Sonae Capital Industrials will allow BeyondComposite to leverage on the resources and expertise of one of Portugal’s leading industrial groups, fostering the company’s sustainable growth. BeyondComposite already has a partnership with Surforma, a group company specializing in thermolaminated panels, which will now be further enhanced. The two companies will collaborate to explore synergies and develop even more sustainable solutions.
